About Us
The idea for All Clear Aquarium Services began with Alan and Kathleen who happen to love aquatic animals. They discovered there are many people who share their passion but lack the time to maintain healthy conditions and visually-appealing aquaria. Maintenance cannot be ignored without inviting tragedy. Water conditions can deteriorate rapidly once an imbalance occurs. Regular maintenance also ensures that disease problems are noticed so they can be avoided or corrected quickly. The solution is to contract this service to experts who understand what is involved in maintaining correct water chemistry and have the equipment to maintain these environments in pristine condition.
Alan's interest in the care and maintenance of freshwater environments has grown since he was seven years old. He housed his first collection of 50 fish in four tanks ranging from 2.5 gallons to 20 gallons. His expertise has been built over a lifetime maintaining aquaria. Currently, in addition to maintaining large and small tanks for clients of All Clear Aquarium Services, he maintains his own fish tanks and reptile terrariums. Alan has recently expanded his areas of experience to include saltwater reef environments. He is currently managing a 60 gallon reef tank (with help from the Northern BC Reef Society members) to get some first-hand knowledge with saltwater environments.
All Clear Aquarium Services started out as a hobby-business. With over 30 years experience in freshwater aquarium management, Alan had been prompted by friends and relatives for advice regularly. These same people started asking if Alan could maintain their tanks for them. Realizing the time commitment necessary to maintain a healthy 'wet pet' environment, these friends started bartering with him for his time, eventually offering cash payment; and thus the idea for a business was born.
With much support from Kathleen, Alan took the plunge and started a small home-based business over 3 years ago. The business has grown steadily over the past few short years, and now All Clear has a loyal following of clients. Short-term goals for All Clear include servicing 20 tanks before the end of 2008 (goal achieved! Thank YOU!), 40 before the end of 2009, and eventually hiring on local staff to grow the clientèle base to over 100 tanks.

Although we try our best to make sure your pets are comfortable at all times while performing our services, the nature of dealing with live fish, as with all animals is unpredictable. As a result, it is possible that some aquatic animals may perish during transfer to or from a tank, aquarium, terrarium, or bowl to a temporary container, and back again. As we are a full-service venture, we have no objections to transferring your live animals, however, in the event that particularly valuable, dangerous, or prized pet is to be transferred from its home container to a temporary container for service purposes, it is recommended that the owners do so on their own.
If you have a dangerous animal (ie; poisonous) and do not wish to handle it yourself, please make sure we are aware of the risk before your appointment.
